Mobile First Design
Movers & Packers Web Application

Project Overview

Project Type:
Mobile-first design
Team:
Independent project with the help of Mentor and Peers
Tools:
Figma, Mural, Freepik
Problem Statement:
Moving and organizing any space is often stressful and time-consuming. Many struggle to find reliable movers, packers, or organizers, facing unclear pricing, multiple service providers, and inconvenient booking processes.
Research
Research Objective
The research focused on understanding users' needs and motivations when seeking home services like movers, packers, and space organization through a digital platform.
It explored common challenges users face during service discovery and booking, such as lack of trust, transparency, and inefficient processes.
The study evaluated how a mobile-first design could simplify access, build trust, and offer a more convenient experience for users on the go.

Competitive Analysis

Key Takeaways
Competitors like NoBroker, Urban Company, and Porter offer strong moving and home services, but none provide dedicated space organization solutions. While Urban Company has a polished interface and variety, it lacks consistency in service quality. NoBroker integrates moving with rentals but has a cluttered UI. Porter is efficient for logistics but limited in scope.
This reveals a clear gap and opportunity for a mobile-first platform that combines essential home services with personalized space organization, offering a more seamless and complete user experience.
Personas

Key Takeaways
The two personas—a homemaker and mother, and a busy software developer—showed different lifestyles but similar needs. The homemaker wants a clean, well-organized home and service providers she can trust. The developer looks for fast booking, clear options, and an easy-to-use app. Both want a smooth, reliable experience that saves time and effort.
How might we?
How might we support customers in efficiently organizing and setting up their belongings in their new home to create a comfortable and functional space?
How might we provide easy and reliable access to professional experts who can offer personalized advice and guidance throughout the moving and settling process?
How might we transform the overall moving experience into a smoother, more enjoyable, and trustworthy journey by ensuring careful packing, supervision, and clear communication?
Design & Prototype

Low Fidelity Wireframes

Mid Fidelity Wireframes
Using Figma, I translated key screens into mid-fidelity digital wireframes, enhancing the detail and structure of each interface element. This transition from hand-drawn sketches to a digital format provided clarity on the feasibility of my initial low-fidelity concepts and allowed for more precise exploration of layout and functionality.

Style Guide and Components
The style guide acts as a foundation for maintaining visual and functional consistency across all design elements. It outlines key components like typography, color palette, iconography, and buttons—each thoughtfully chosen and documented to create a cohesive, intuitive user experience. This not only strengthens the brand identity but also streamlines development and future updates.

UI Interaction

Usability Testing
User testing is a process where real users interact with a product or prototype to identify usability issues and gather feedback. It helps understand how users experience the product, ensuring it meets their needs and expectations. Feedback from user testing is analyzed and used to refine the design, addressing pain points and improving the overall user experience to better align the product with user needs.
For the Sortify app, I conducted one-on-one user testing, utilizing Figma prototypes to evaluate the design and functionality. The sessions involved peoples who have experienced shifting recently, which allowed for more targeted feedback on relevance to the app's purpose. During the testing, participants were guided through key user flows and asked to complete specific tasks, providing real-time insights into the app's usability. This approach helped uncover potential improvements and ensured that the app meets the needs of users.
Feedback
Home Page can me improved a bit.
Adding map for the location will be easier for user to use.
Some text alignments should be improved.
Color palette is good.
Some more questions could be added before service estimation.
